We had the good fortune of staying at Papa Bear’s cabin during the weekend of May 10, 2013. We had a perfect experience. The grounds and cabin were beautiful, everything was exactly as pictures, but much nicer in person. The view of the river created an absolutely serene experience. It was great to just walk steps and have the river right there. My family really enjoyed fishing (and we caught a few!) and doing a campfire the 2 nights we were there. The location is also extremely convenient, as we easily went to Luray cavern for a couple of hours to check out the caves. Working with the owners was a pleasure, they were extremely responsive and very accommodating. In short a perfect getaway, my only complaint is that I could not stay longer. I would highly recommend this cabin and would very much like to return myself as well!
Once again we are back ! This is our 3rd. visit and we love it !! We celebrated our Thanksgiving Day here and had our dinner. The guys went fishing. We enjoyed the antique shops and flea markets. Such a wonderful place to be and have family time. We enjoy this cabin so much. See you next year Papa Bear !Papa Bear’s River Cabin was an extraordinary setting for my family’s getaway to the Shenandoah Valley. The cabin was clean, cozy, and warm with the right blend of modernity and rural essence. The river was great for two leisurely canoe trips . I cannot think of a better place for a getaway for families with children than Papa Bear’s Cabin. We’ll Be Back !!!
Karol and I have been re-charged by staying in your lovely cabin. It gets nicer everytime we come. The peace, quiet, fragrance and color of this area helps to calm the stress we accumulate in our daily life. Thank you for having us , we will be back soon !
Thank you so much for sharing your delightfully beautiful cabin. We had such a great time, relaxing by the fire pit and fishing off the river edge. We even caught a few fish ! We come here every year for our anniversary and my husband and I both agree this has been the most beautiful home so far. Just the perfect relaxing week-end we needed. Thanks so much !
We had a wonderful time ! The cabin is very nice and the outside is beautiful. Loved the hot-tub ! We came from Flonaton , Alabama the weather was so nice. We visited the Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, New Market War Museum and enjoyed all the beautiful Fall foliage. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. It was great !!
The cabin listing and photos are extremely accurate. This cabin has a fully stocked kitchen and even provides young kid toys and table. The kids loved the trundle bed and the adults found the rooms to be very comfortable. Two families with young children from 20 months to 7 years old were able to fully enjoy a weekend away! The view along the river is great and we saw many bluegill and bass if you are interested in fishing. The property was extremely clean. I always judge by the bathrooms and it was spotless. The hot tub was perfect once the kiddos went to bed. The owner’s communication was super friendly.
While we mostly relaxed on the property, Luray Caverns was the perfect little excursion for our families. The only thing that would make this place even more perfect is if there was a canoe on site and have a dock for fishing, but we made do just standing along the river. We later learned there are companies that will deliver kayaks and canoes. We loved that there was a gas and charcoal grill as well as a really perfect firepit area with plenty of space for kids to run. We highly recommend staying at this cabin and hope to return someday!Thank you Papa Bear !! From the time we arrived till we had to leave, a good time was had by all ! We grew up in the Adirondack Mountains and some of us still live there. This reminded us of our home. Fishing was the best and swimming in the river was so much fun !
